Warwick Writers

The generous dead, the vengeful dead, the bored dead and ... well, the dead. Gothic mansions and bullets,  gangland alleyways and graveyards. Featuring 'I am Katherine Margaret Hall, Wonder Woman', shortlisted for the Word Poetry Competition 2019 and 'For All Time', shortlisted for the Felix Dennis Prize in 2016, Tales From The Ether is a wonderful array by emerging writers: gothic fiction, romance, historic, crime, twists in the tale, humour, life writing, literary and non-fiction-all within one volume. Stories set in the USA, the UK, India, Italy and Indonesia. Entertaining writers from around the world and voices from under represented groups. Stong female leads, gutsy takes on love, ambition, disappointment, disability, friendship, colourism and racism. Muslims, Catholics and those for whom religion isn't a thing. Easy to read from cover to cover, dip into, graze or study.

The Felix Dennis shortlisted story, 'For All Time', is both heart warming and very clever. Who is Bill and will he be back? PS Keynes has another story, 'Food Bank' in the collection, which again depicts a wonderfully observed and poignant slice of contemporary life.

“If you get stuck, get away from your desk. Take a walk, take a bath, go to sleep, make a pie, draw, listen to music, meditate, exercise; whatever you do, don't just stick there scowling at the problem. But don't make telephone calls or go to a party; if you do, other people's words will pour in where your lost words should be. Open a gap for them, create a space. Be patient."

[The Guardian, 25 February 2010]”
